The hardest-hit ball in MLB history traveled at an exit velocity of 122.4 miles per hour and was hit by Oneil Cruz (Dominican Republic) of the Pittsburgh Pirates in a game against the Atlanta Braves on 24 August 2022.
Cruz’s single was the hardest hit ball ever recorded by Statcast, which MLB began using to measure exit velocity in 2015. Giancarlo Stanton previously had the record for the hardest-hit ball, reaching 122.2 mph while playing for the Miami Marlins on 1 October 2017 and as a member of the New York Yankees on 9 August 2021.
