The most heavily automated part of the manufacturing sector is the automotive industry. According to the International Federation of Robotics' World Robotics 2022 Report, published 13 October 2022, car makers operate 31 percent of the industrial robots active in the world today.
The next largest sector is electrical and electronics, which uses 25 percent of the world's active industrial robots, followed by metal foundries at 11 percent.
