The world's most expensive animal protection suit was invented by Canadian grizzly bear researcher Troy Hurtubise, and is valued at over $150,000 (£93,750). The suit, called the Ursus Mark IV, weighs 66.6 kg (147 lb) and is made of layers of chainmail, galvanised steel, titanium and high tech plastic and liquid rubber. It has an onboard camera and TV monitor, computerized sensors to monitor heart rate, and a stress, temperature and airbag system to provide the ultimate in protection against grizzly bears.
The suit has endured a 9-mm Beretta, a shotgun firing babbit slugs and arrows fired from 6.09 m (20 ft) away. The suit can withstand 1,905 kg (4,200 lb) per 1 ft² (0.09 m²).
