The most people to make a sports prediction in one month is 21,250,464 and was achieved by Mercadolibre, Inc (USA), from 26 May to 24 June 2026.

The event took place via the official platforms of Mercado Pago and Mercado Libre – both part of the MercadoLibre group. The football prediction game, created around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, ran for 39 days and drew players from Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Chile and Uruguay. Together, they submitted a staggering 966 million match predictions – equivalent to around 38 predictions for every person who took part – while creating 2.4 million private pools for friends and family.

In a one-month window during the campaign, an impressive 21,250,464 predictions were made, comfortably beating the previous record of 7,363,889 predictions logged by a Brazilian company back in 2022.

With almost a billion guesses, some fascinating trends emerged. The most popular predicted score was 2–1, chosen more than 170 million times. Spain vs Belgium proved the easiest match to call, with 38% of participants correctly predicting the result.

At the other end of the scale came Canada’s remarkable 6–0 victory over Qatar. Out of more than 25 million players, only 377 correctly predicted the exact score – roughly one successful guess for every 66,800 participants.

Argentina, France, Spain, Brazil and England were the five teams most frequently tipped to win the tournament.

"The entire operation – from the promotional campaign to the final results – was executed exceptionally well, said GWR adjudicator Camila Borenstain, who made the official certificate presentation to Mercado Pago's Marketing & Growth Director Felipe Castano Gonzalez. "The impact of the record validation was remarkable, sparking immediate buzz about potential attempts for Carnival 2027. The record demonstrates the extraordinary scale of digital football fandom in Latin America, with millions of fans and hundreds of millions of predictions!"
