The seven actors who play Richard Parker the Tiger in Lolita Chakrabarti’s stage adaptation of Life of Pi (UK) – puppeteers Fred Davis, Daisy Franks, Romina Hytten, Tom Larkin, Habib Nasib Nader, Tom Stacy and Scarlet Wilderink – jointly won Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the 2022 Laurence Olivier Awards, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London, UK, on 10 April. Based on Yann Martel’s novel of the same name, Life of Pi premiered at Sheffield’s Crucible Theatre on 28 June 2019 before beginning a West End run at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre on 15 November 2021.

In 2006, James Lomas, George Maguire and Liam Mower shared Best Actor in a Musical for playing the lead role in Victoria Palace Theatre’s (UK) production of Billy Elliot the Musical (2005). In 2012, Cleo Demetriou, Kerry Ingram, Sophia Kiely and Eleanor Worthington Cox jointly won Best Actress in a Musical for playing Matilda Wormwood in Cambridge Theatre’s (UK) production of Matilda (2011). Life of Pi won five awards at the 2022 ceremony: Best New Play, Best Actor (Hiran Abeysekera as Pi Patel), Best Set Design and Best Lighting Design in addition to Best Actor in a Supporting Role.
