Wizkid (Nigeria, b. Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun) won Song of the Year for “Come Closer” (feat. Drake) in 2017, “Fever” in 2019 and “Essence” (feat. Tems) in 2021 at the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA).


Nigeria’s Davido (“Aiye”, 2014), Tanzania’s Diamond Platnumz (“Nasema Nawe”, 2015, and “Utanipenda”, 2016) and the Ghanaian/Nigerian collective GuiltyBeatz/Mr Eazi/Patapaa/Pappy Kojo (“Akwaaba”, 2018) have also won Song of the Year.
