As of 2021, Wizkid (Nigeria, b. Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun) had eight All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) trophies to his name. The singer/songwriter has won an unrivalled three Artist of the Year awards (2016–17 and 2021) and three Song of the Year awards (“Come Closer”, feat. Drake, in 2017; “Fever” in 2019; and “Essence”, feat. Tems, in 2021).

He was also named Best Male Artist in West Africa in 2017, and “Essence” collected Best African Collaboration in 2021 – his third win that year. Wizkid – alongside co-vocalist Tiwa Savage – was also cited in the Best African DJ category in 2019, as a guest vocalist on DJ Spinall’s “Dis Love”.

Tanzanian singer/dancer Diamond Platnumz (b. Naseeb Abdul Juma Issack), Nigerian singer Davido (b. David Adedeji Adeleke) and Malian rapper Iba One (b. Ibrahim Mahamadou Fily Sissoko) are among the artists with at least four AFRIMA victories since the awards show was established in 2014.

Diamond Platnumz (3), Davido (3) and Iba One (1) are all nominated for the 2022 edition of AFRIMA (8–11 December 2022). Wizkid famously collaborated with US rapper Drake on his worldwide smash hit “One Dance”. The Afrobeats star has also released music with the likes of Chris Brown, Skepta, Tinie Tempah and Beyoncé. His fifth studio album, More Love, Less Ego, is scheduled for release in 2022.
