No female artist had scored three chart-topping albums on the US Billboard 200 in a calendar year until Taylor Swift (USA) did it with evermore (2 January, 16 January and 12 June), Fearless (Taylor’s Version) (24 April and 16 October) and Red (Taylor’s Version) (27 November) in 2021.

Swift’s evermore also topped the Billboard 200 on 26 December 2020. Her 2021 success accounted for six of the 56 No.1 weeks she’d amassed as of 5 November 2022 – the week Midnights debuted at No.1 with a massive 1.578 million album equivalent units sold.

The Monkees (four No.1s in 1967), Elvis Presley (three No.1s in 1957 and 1961), The Kingston Trio (three No.1s in 1960), The Beatles (three No.1s in 1964-66), Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass (three No.1s in 1966), Elton John (three No.1s in 1975), Garth Brooks (three No.1s in 1998) and Glee Cast (three No.1s in 2010) have all matched Swift’s triumvirate of single-year US chart-toppers, with The Monkees on top overall.

LeAnn Rimes (1997) and Susan Boyle (2010) are the only solo females with as many as two No.1 albums on the Billboard 200 in a calendar year.
