Midnights, the world-conquering 12th studio album by Taylor Swift (USA), became her 11th consecutive studio set to debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200, on 5 November 2022. With 1.578 million album equivalent units (1.140 million pure sales) recorded in the US in the first week, Midnights broke a tie with rappers Jay-Z (2002–17) and Kanye West (2005–21), who had both previously logged 10 consecutive studio-album chart-toppers on the Billboard 200. Counting solo albums only, Jay-Z achieved a Swift-tying 11 successive No.1s in 1998–2017, but the sequence was halted when The Best of Both Worlds (feat. R. Kelly) peaked at No.2 in 2002. Three other collaborative No.1s (2004–11) did, however, bump up Jay-Z’s string of best-selling albums to 10.
