The King James Bible was recorded in seven years, to create a collection of 78 CDs, lasting 88 hours. Produced by John Scobie Ryder, he selected 147 actors from the Royal Shakespeare Company and the BBC Repertory Company to read it onto 1,600 km (1,000 miles) of tape. Due to be released at the end of 1999 with 20,000 copies costing £299 for the set.
