Taylor Swift (USA) has released eight studio albums that have each logged at least one million-selling week on the Billboard 200: Speak Now (1.047 million on 13 November 2010), Red (1.208 million on 10 November 2012), 1989 (1.287 million on 15 November 2014), reputation (1.216 million on 2 December 2017), Midnights (1.140 million on 5 November 2022), 1989 (Taylor’s Version) (1.359 million on 11 November 2023), The Tortured Poets Department (1.914 million on 4 May 2024) and The Life of a Showgirl (3.479 million on 18 October 2025).
Swift’s one-week tallies – all debut weeks – are for the albums’ traditional sales (physical, including CD and vinyl, and digital), minus “equivalent album units” (primarily on-demand streams).
Overall, The Life of a Showgirl stormed to No.1 on the Billboard 200 on 18 October 2025 with 4.002 million equivalent album units – the largest sum since Billboard’s Luminate sales-tracking era began in 1991. This extraordinary figure is made up of 3.479 million traditional album sales and 522,600 streaming equivalent albums, equating to 680.9 million on-demand official streams of the album’s 12 songs.
Showgirl’s 3.479 million traditional (pure) album sales surpassed Adele’s US record of 3.378 million, set by 25 on 12 December 2015. Showgirl’s equivalent album units (4.002 million), including streaming activity, also exceeded 25’s previous record of 3.482 million and dwarfed the numbers recorded by Swift’s previous studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, which logged 2.610 million equivalent album units on 4 May 2024.
