On 18 October 2025, “The Fate of Ophelia” by Taylor Swift (USA) became the eighth of her 13 US No.1s to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. She had previously entered at No.1 with “Shake It Off” (6 September 2014), “Cardigan” (8 August 2020), “Willow” (26 December 2020), “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)” (27 November 2021), “Anti-Hero” (5 November 2022), “Is It Over Now?” (11 November 2023) and “Fortnight” (4 May 2024).
“The Fate of Ophelia” edged Swift ahead of Ariana Grande, who took seven of her nine US No.1s straight to the top of the chart between “Thank U, Next” on 17 November 2018 and “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” on 23 March 2024.
As of 18 October 2025, Canadian rapper Drake (with nine) was the only act with more No.1 debuts on the Hot 100 than Swift.
Swift’s 276 Hot 100 entries have included 69 Top 10 hits (both female records), 10 of which arrived simultaneously on 18 October 2025, when, for the third time since 5 November 2022, she occupied all 10 positions with tracks from a new studio album (The Life of a Showgirl).
“The Fate of Ophelia” was the 86th song to debut at No.1 in Hot 100 era (since 4 August 1958).
