In terms of pure sales (physical and digital), Taylor Swift’s (USA) Red (1.208 million on 10 November 2012) has sold more first-week copies than any other album by a male or female country artist or group. Swift’s last recognizably country-styled album before she fully embraced pop and rock (and eventually folk) on subsequent releases, Red ousted country legend Garth Brooks’ Double Live (1.085 million on 5 December 1998) as the genre’s faster-selling album.
Swift’s Speak Now album, country music’s former fastest seller for a female artist, and now – as of 5 November 2022 – the third-fastest country seller overall, shifted 1.047 million copies to debut at No.1 on 13 November 2010.
