David Tennant (UK) won the first (2008), second (2010) and 13th (2021) awards for Best Drama Performance at the National Television Awards (NTAs). He was honoured for his portrayal of the Tenth Doctor in Doctor Who (BBC) in 2008 and 2010, and, at the 26th NTAs in London, UK, on 9 September 2021, he won the statuette for playing Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen in Des (ITV).

Best Drama Performance has also been won by David Jason (2011), Matt Smith (2012 and 2014), Karen Gillan (2012), Colin Morgan (2013), Miranda Hart (2013), Sheridan Smith (2015), Suranne Jones (2016 and 2018), Sarah Lancashire (2017), Richard Madden (2019) and Cillian Murphy (2020 and 2022). Murphy, who played Thomas “Tommy” Shelby in all six series of Peaky Blinders (BBC; 2013-22), received his third nomination – and his second NTAs statuette – for the role in 2022.
