The world's highest paid TV actresses per episode of a television series were Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox Arquette (all USA), who played the female leads in Friends (NBC, USA) since 1994, and who earned approximately $1 million (£703,334) each per episode for the shows final series which ended in May 2004.

Helen Hunt (USA) also reportedly earned $1million (£610,000) per episode of Mad About You (NBC, USA) in the 1990s.

Warner Bros TV typically produced 24 episodes of Friends for NBC per season, which ended in its 10th season in USA in May 2004.

The series began in 1994, with the stars earning $40,000 (£26,000) each per episode.

It was reported in newspapers in January 2004 that a one-off, 90 minute final episode will be filmed, with each star earning £1.1 million.

In addition, the cast received a percentage of the revenue generated by reruns of each show.  These reruns are already successful and are expected to make over $1 billion (£703,333,802) for the studio.
The show itself is already one of the most expensive shows ever, as each episode cost approximately $10 million (£6.25 million) to make.
