The longest broad bean pod (Vicia faba) measured 45.5 cm (1 ft 5.9 in) and was grown by James Brown (UK) as assessed at the UK National Giant Vegetable Championships held at the Malvern Autumn Show in Worcestershire, UK, on 27–29 September 2024.
This surpassed his own previous record of 43.1 cm (1 ft 4.97 in) set in 2023.
Brown also currently holds the record for the heaviest broad bean pod – 192 g (6.77 oz) – set in 2023.
The broad bean - aka the fava bean - is a member of the Fabaceae family.
