Jhulan Goswami (India) bowed out of international cricket on 24 September 2022 having bowled 10,005 balls (1,667.3 overs) in 204 One-Day International (ODI) matches. She reached the landmark of 10,000 deliveries with the first ball of her final over, at the end of a career spanning 20 years 261 days. Goswami claimed a female ODI record 255 wickets, conceding 5,622 runs at an average of 22.04 runs per wicket.

Right-arm medium-pacer Goswami (b. 25 November 1982), who retired at the age of 39 years 303 days, made her ODI debut against England on 6 January 2002. Her best-ever bowling analysis was 6 for 31, against New Zealand on 5 July 2011. As of 24 September 2022, Goswami was 3,158 balls ahead of England’s Katherine Brunt (6,847), 3,753 balls ahead of West Indies’ Anisa Mohammed (6,252) and 3,835 balls ahead of South Africa’s Shabnim Ismail (6,170).
