Most money raised by a telethon

The record for the largest amount of money raised on a telethon belongs to the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Association telethon.  The running total, since it was first broadcast in 1966 is $1.01 billion (£;7.08 billion). The 2001 Jerry Lewis MDA telethon raised $56,780,603 (£;39,854,428).
