Oldest barber (female)

The oldest barber (female) is Shitsui Hakoishi (Japan, b.10 November 1916) who is 108 years and 115 days old and works at Riyo Hakoishi in Nasu, Tochigi, Japan as verified on 5 March 2025.

Shitsui passed the barber's exam at the age of 19 in 1936. She married another barber, and they opened a shop together. However, she lost her husband in World War II, and their shop was destroyed in an air raid during the war. At one point, she rented a small hut where tobacco was dried to start her own business again. Eventually, in 1953, she opened a permanent barbershop in her hometown in Tochigi where she has been working ever since.
