The most consecutive gold medals at the World Orienteering Championships is 11, achieved by Tove Alexandersson (Sweden) between 2018 and 2022.
Alexandersson’s streak of 11 gold medals in a row came to an end at the 2022 World Orienteering Championships, when she finished 6th in the women’s sprint having won the previous two events. Her winning run, across four championships, included clean sweeps in 2019 and 2021 and golds in every contestable event – middle, long, relay, sprint, knockout sprint and mixed sprint relay.
