The oldest male to row across the Atlantic Ocean is Peter Smith (Antigua, b. 17 May 1941), who was 74 years 217 days old when he began rowing the Atlantic east to west from La Gomera (Canary Islands, Spain) to Antigua as part of a team of four on board Wa'Omoni. The row lasted from 20 December 2015 to 10 February 2016, equating to a total journey time of 52 days 9 hours 9 minutes.
This also make Smith the oldest person to row across any ocean to date.
He made the crossing as part of a team of four, with fellow Antiguans Nick Fuller (captain), Archie Bailey and John Hall.
The oldest person to row solo across the Atlantic Ocean (and indeed any ocean), meanwhile, is Frank Rothwell (UK, b. 9 July 1950), who departed from San Sebastian, La Gomera (Canary Islands, Spain) aged 73 years 157 days on 13 December 2023 in the vessel Never Too Old, and arrived 64 days later at English Harbour, Antigua, aged 73 years 221 days on 15 February 2024.
