The largest human national flag was organised by Realizar Impact Marketing and involved 18,788 women at the National Stadium of Jamor, in Lisbon, Portugal on 20 May 2006.
The whole event was organised by Banco Espirito Santo (one of the main sponsors of the Portuguese national soccer team) as a way of showing the support for the national soccer team by Portuguese women, in their bid to win the World Cup 2006. Other sponsors and organisers of the event were McCann Erickson, Media Edge, Federação Portuguesa de Futebol, Parceiros de Comunicação, SIC Television and Instituto Português da Juventude. The entire event was broadcast live on SIC, Portugal's main independent television broadcaster.
