The most sisters to climb Everest together is three, on 12 May 2021, when Nima Jangmu Sherpa, Tshering Namgya Sherpa and Dawa Futi Sherpa (all Nepal) all reached the top of the highest mountain along with 12 other expedition members.
The sisters - Dawa Futi (b. 6 January 1997), Tshering Namgya (b. 2 November 1995) and Nima Jangmu (b. 25 May 1990) - were born in the Rolwaling Valley in Nepal's Dolakha district. Under the banner of "Three Sisters on Seven Summits", they plan to build on their success at Everest by climbing the highest mountains on each of the continents. Their ascent of Everest was dedicated to their father, a Himalaya guide who tragically lost eight fingers while tying a client's boot laces during the Winter Everest Expedition in 1983. "His dream of climbing Everest never happened after that," reported their older brother, Mingma Gyalje Sherpa, in a social-media post. "My sisters said their expedition would be dedicated in his memory. This is an emotional moment for me so I am happy helping them with climbing all seven summits." Nima Jangmu added to her haul of Guinness World Records certificates, having previously become the fastest woman to climb three of the higher 8,000ers, doing so in 23 days 18 hours and 30 minutes in 2018.
