The most expensive Nobel medal sold at auction is $103,500,000 (£84,674,592 / €98,611,178), which is the fee a Nobel Peace Prize medal awarded to Dmitry Muratov (Russia) sold for at Heritage Auctions, on 20 June 2022.
Muratov - the editor-in-chief of the Russian newspaper Novaya Gazeta - said all the money from the sale would be donated towards helping refugees from the war in Ukraine. He was co-awarded the peace prize in 2021 for his "efforts to safeguard freedom of expression".
