A world record litter of 37 piglets was born to Sow 570, a Meishan cross Large White-Duroc on 21 September 1993, at Mr and Mrs M. P. Ford's Eastfield House Farm in Melbourne, York, UK. Of the 36 piglets that were born alive, 33 survived.
A Large White owned by H. S. Pedlingham farrowed 385 pigs in 22 litters from December 1923 to September 1934.
During the period 1940-52 a Large Black sow belonging to A. M. Harris of Lapworth, Warks farrowed 26 litters.
A Newsham Large White´Landrace sow from Meeting House Farm, Staintondale, near Scarborough, N Yorks gave birth to 70 piglets in a 12-month period beginning 6 May 1987.
