The smallest pinniped, by a small margin, is the Galapagos fur seal (Arctocephalus galapagoensis). Adult females average 1.2 m (3 ft 11 in) in length and weigh about 27 kg (60 lb). Males are usually considerably larger, averaging 1.5 m (4 ft 11 in) in length and weighing around 64 kg (141 lb).
