The male eastern lowland gorilla (Gorilla beringei graueri) found in forests in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo has a typical bipedal standing height of 1.75m (5 ft 9 in) and weighs up to 210 kg (463 lb).
One exceptionally tall male gorilla, shot by a hunter on 16 May 1938 in eastern Congo, measured 1.95 m (6 ft 5 in) from crest to heel.
