Marie Dressler (Canada, 1868–1934) was 64 when she became number one box-office star in 1933. Born Leila von Koerber, on 9 November 1868 in Cobourg, Ontario, Canada, she began her film career in 1914 and won the Oscar for Best Acress for her performance of Min Divot in Min and Bill (USA 1930).
She died in 1934 from cancer.
