A revival of the US teen sitcom iCarly (Nickelodeon, 2021; original series 2007-12) claimed its fourth Favorite TV Show award at the 35th edition of the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards (KCA’s) on 9 April 2022 – a ceremony co-hosted by Miranda Cosgrove, who reprised her role as Carly Shay in the latest series. iCarly’s original run scooped Favorite TV Show at the KCA’s for three years in a row (2009-11). Its fourth success came 11 years and seven days later as the sitcom tied Home Improvement (ABC, 1991-99; syndicated to Nickelodeon), starring Tim Allen and Patricia Richardson, for the most wins in the category. Home Improvement won four consecutive Favorite TV Show blimps at the KCA’s, in 1994-97.
iCarly is jointly the most nominated TV Show at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Its seven nods came in 2008-13 and 2022. The Big Bang Theory (2014-20) and The Flash (2015-20 and 2022) have also picked up seven nominations. Home Improvement’s five nominations arrived consecutively, in 1994-98.
Meanwhile, Cosgrove won Favorite Female TV Star (Family) at the 2022 KCA’s for portraying Carly Shay in the series. It was Cosgrove’s first blimp for iCarly, after five previous Favorite TV Actress nominations in 2009-13, although she did win Favorite Voice from an Animated Movie in 2014, for playing Margo in Despicable Me 2.
