Foo Fighters (USA) have won a total of five Best Rock Album Grammy awards: There Is Nothing Left to Lose (2001), One by One (2004), Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (2008), Wasting Light (2012) and Medicine at Midnight (2022). Best Rock Album was inaugurated at the 37th Annual Grammy Awards in 1995.

Sheryl Crow (1997 & 1999), U2 (2002 & 2006), Green Day (2005 & 2010), Muse (2011 & 2016) and Cage the Elephant (2017 & 2020) have all won Best Rock Album twice. Neil Young amassed seven nominations in 1995-2014, a figure matched by the Foos in 2022. The Colour and the Shape (1998) and In Your Honor (2006) were the ones that got away for the Seattle rockers.

Foo Fighters landed three Grammys at the 64th edition in 2022: Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance (“Making a Fire”) and Best Rock Song (“Waiting on a War”), bringing their total number of Grammy wins to 15 since 2001. It was a poignant night for the Dave Grohl-fronted band, coming just nine days after the death of their drummer Taylor Hawkins. If the Grammys ceremony had not been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic and had taken place as originally scheduled on 31 January 2022, Hawkins would have lived to receive the hat-trick of awards.
