The first city to hold Summer and Winter Olympic Games is Beijing (China), as the Summer Olympic Games host city in 2008 and Winter Olympic Games host city in 2022.


The Beijing Summer Olympics, officially the XXIX Olympic Summer Games, was held in Beijing from 8 to 24 August 2008. The Beijing Winter Olympics, officially called the XXIV Olympic Winter Games, was held between 4 and 20 February 2022. The venues for the Winter Games were divided into three zones: Beijing, Yanqing, and Zhangjiakou.

The opening ceremony for both events were held at the National Stadium of China (aka The Birds Nest), and it owns the Guinness World Records title for the largest steel stadium.
