Mellissa Sanders (USA) lived in a shack measuring 1.8m x 2.1m (5.9 ft x 6.8 ft) at the top of a pole in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA from 26 October 1986 to 24 March 1988, a total of 516 days.

She was following in the footsteps of her mother, Mauri Rose Sanders, who set her own 211-day record in 1959.
