The longest international career for a professional footballer (soccer player) (female) is 26 years, and was achieved by Miraildes Maciel Mota a.k.a Formiga (Brazil), who made her international debut in 1995, and played her final game in 2021.

Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil on 3 March 1978, Formiga is the country's most-capped player and accumulated a total of 234 appearances. With Brazil she won two Olympic silver medals (in 2004 and 2008) and was a runner-up at the 2007 World Cup. She won three Pan American Games and six Copa América Feminino titles.
