Adele (UK, b. Adele Adkins) won Best British Album of the Year for 21 in 2012, 25 in 2016 and 30 in 2022. It was one of three trophies won by Adele at the 42nd BRIT Awards, alongside Best British Single (“Easy on Me”) and Artist of the Year. The Tottenham-born songstress has collected a total of 12 BRITs since 2008 – just one award shy of Robbie Williams’ record of 13.


Barbra Streisand (1983), Michael Jackson (1984), Sade (1985), Phil Collins (1986), Sting (1988), George Michael (1991), Seal (1992), Annie Lennox (1993), Dido (2002), Duffy (2009), Emeli Sandé (2013), Ed Sheeran (2015), David Bowie (2017), Stormzy (2018), Dave (2020) and Dua Lipa (2021) have all won Album of the Year once at the BRIT Awards. Among all acts since the award was inaugurated in 1977, Adele’s three statues ties Coldplay (Parachutes, 2001; A Rush of Blood to the Head, 2003; X&Y, 2006) and Arctic Monkeys (Whatever People Say I Am, That’s What I’m Not, 2007; Favourite Worst Nightmare, 2008; AM, 2014) for the most Album of the Year wins.
