The Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum in Justice, Illinois, USA, is home to the largest dalle-de-verre stained glass, designed by Gabriel P Cartwright and completed in 1971. The multicoloured scheme (i.e., a series of windows) measures a combined 2,079 m2 (22,378 sq ft) across more than 2,400 stained-glass panels – akin to nearly five basketball courts!
Dalle-de-verre is a technique that involves smashing thick slabs of glass with a hammer, piecing the fragments back together and then setting them in place with concrete and epoxy resin. It is sometimes referred to as "faceted glass".
