The unfinished obelisk, probably commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut in around 1490 B.C. and lying in situ at Aswan, Egypt, is 41.75 m. (136 ft. 10 in.) long and, had it been completed, would have weighed an estimated 1,168 tonnes (1,150 tons).
