First videogame to win a Hugo Award

Hades (Supergiant Games, 2020) is a top-down action game based on Ancient Greek mythology. It tells the story of Zagreus, the son of Hades, making efforts to escape from the Underworld and reunite with his mother. It was a smash hit, garnering praise for its art design, music and writing. On 18 December 2021, these achievements were recognised at the Hugo Awards, founded in 1953 and giving awards to the best in science fiction and fantasy works of the last year. In 2021, the category for Best Video Game was added (now known as Best Game or Interactive Work) and Hades was the worthy, inaugural winner.
