On 9 September 2017, an estimated 20,000–30,000 people took part in the "Animal Parade" held in Tel Aviv, Israel, protesting for improved animal welfare in agriculture, a ban on fur products and a wider takeup of veganism. Organized by around 25 animal charities, the march started in Meir Park and ended in a rally in Rabin Square, where several speakers gave speeches, including the president of PETA, Ingrid Newkirk.
Charities involved with organizing the "Animal Parade" included Vegan Friendly, Anonymous for Animal Rights (now called Animals Now), Let the Animals Live, Freedom Farm and the Association Against Animal Experiments. The rally in Rabin Square was moderated by former TV presenter and politician Miki Haimovich of the Blue and White Party.
The peaceful march saw the waving of flags, chants such as "Justice. Compassion. Veganism" and the assembly of a giant paw print (as seen from above) with thousands of people holding placards above their heads.
