The fastest marathon (female) - LA2 is 3 hr 4 min 16 sec, achieved by Amy Winters (USA), in Chicago, Illinois, USA, on 22 October 2006.
Amy collided with a vehicle while out on her motorcycle in 1994, resulting in an above-the-knee amputation of her left leg. She was a passionate runner prior to the incident, and despite having to learn how to walk again after her surgery, she eventually became strong enough to run marathon distances - achieving both this record and the fastest half marathon (female) - LA2 with a time of 1 hr 25 min 56 sec, in 2007.
Amy now spearheads the One Step Ahead Foundation, an organization she created to help children with physical disabilities. In 2021, she also achieved the Guinness World Records title for fastest 100 miles on a treadmill (female) – LA2 to help launch Guinness World Records' Impairment Records Initiative.
