Alfredo Codona (Mexico, 1893–1937) was the first trapeze artist to perform a consistent triple back somersault on the flying trapeze. He presented the triple for the first time in Chicago, USA, at the Sells-Floto Circus, on 3 April 1920, and performed it regularly from 1920 to 1933 with his brother Abelardo (Lalo, 1895–1951) as his catcher.
