Reservoir-induced earthquakes
In 1962, water filled the new Koyna reservoir in India that had been built to supply Bombay with water.  The weight of the water set up stresses in the rock formations below and, on 10 Dec 1967, there was an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale.  177 people were killed and 2,300 injured.
