The Coronation Rock Company first set the record for the largest stick of rock in 1991 when it weighed 413.6 kg (911 lb 13 oz). Lancashire comic Peter Kay challenged the company to break its own record in order to promote his new video. It took 12 people 24 hours to make the rock, which was 14 ft 9 in (4.52 m) long with a circumference of 45 in (1.14 m.). The record-breaking stick consisted of 67% sugar and 33% glucose syrup. A section of the giant rock was sent to Bosnia for charity and proceeds from the sale of the remainder of the rock are to be donated to other charities.
