The farthest distance covered by a slot car in 24 hours (overall) is 1,086.942 km (675.39 miles) and was achieved by Walter Maurer, Beat Aschwanden, Ellen Maurer and Markus Ritter (all Switzerland) in Mettmenstetten, Switzerland, from 30 to 31 October 2020.

The main aim of this attempt was to promote slotcar racing in Switzerland. Walter Maurer is president of the oldest slotcar racing club in the country, Slotracing Mettmenstetten, and has been personally racing for over 50 years.

While the racing was achieved by the four people named above the rest of the club all pitched in to provide support on the day. They helped with the large amount of organisation needed in the lead up to the attempt as well as support throughout the 24 hours.

The team were not ready to rest on their laurels after achieving their Guinness World Records title. They spent a further 15 days covering a further 16,000 km with the aim being the moon!
