The youngest person to climb the top two highest mountains over 8,000 m (26,247 ft) is Nima Rinji Sherpa (Nepal, b. 18 April 2006), who was 17 years 192 days old when he completed his ascent of K2 on 27 July 2023. On 24 May that year, he had reached the top of Everest (aka Sagarmatha or Chomolungma), the world's highest mountain.
The climb was made as part of Nima Rinji's project #SherpaPower, which he began on 30 September 2022 aged 16 years 135 days with an ascent of Manaslu. As a result of his project, Nima Rinji is now the youngest to climb the first three, the first five and all 14 of the 8,000ers. He also became the youngest person to climb the Pakistan Five (K2, Nanga Parbat, Gasherbrum 1, Broad Peak and Gasherbrum 2).
