MLB changed the rules of the All-Star Game to allow Shohei Ohtani to be the starting pitcher and leadoff designated hitter. The rule change allowed Ohtani to continue as a designated hitter after he was removed from the game as a pitcher. Ohtani is also the first MLB player to pitch 100 innings and achieve 100 strikeouts, RBIs, hits and runs in a single season.
