Known as the "Queen of Manhattan Island", Jaimie Monahan (USA) has completed the 46-kilometre (28.5-mile) swim around the island of Manhattan in New York, USA, more times than any other individual: 29 circumnavigations between 12 June 2010 and 4 October 2020.

Monahan became the first person to perform a quadruple Manhattan Circumnavigation swim on 18-20 September 2020, covering four consecutive laps, a total distance of 114 mi (184 km), in 45 hr 24 min. The previous month, she had also completed the same route seven times in seven days, between 17 and 23 August, another unprecedented feat.

The current “King of Manhattan” is Kristian Rutford (USA), with 23 circumnavigations of Manhattan Island between 1988 and 2019.

The veteran endurance outdoor swimmer is no stranger to the record books. In 2017, she became the first person to complete the Ice Sevens Challenge (a cold-water one-mile swim sub-5°C on each continent, as recognized by the International Ice Swimming Association), after completing her seventh Ice Mile in the Beagle Channel, near Ushuaia, Argentina.

Monahan also logged the female record for fastest time to complete 10-km (6.2-mi) marathon swims on six continents - 15 days 8 hr 19 min - achieved in New York City, USA, on 28 August 2018, as verified by the World Open Water Swimming Association.
