Mickelson was ranked 115th in the world and hadn’t won a major in eight years before his triumph at Kiawah Island. He became only the 10th player to win majors in three decades. The oldest winner of a women’s major is Fay Crocker, who was 45 when she claimed the 1960 Titleholders Championship.
