Wheelchair tennis player Dylan Alcott (Australia) became the first man, and only the third player in tennis history, to complete the “Golden Slam” – winning all four Grand Slam singles or doubles titles and Olympic/Paralympic gold in the same year – when he won the quad singles at the US Open in New York on 12 September 2021. Alcott’s seventh consecutive Australian Open title in 2021 was followed by his third straight win at the French Open and his second successive Wimbledon crown. He then retained his quad singles title at the Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, before completing the “Golden Slam” with a 7-5, 6-2 win against Dutchman Niels Vink at Flushing Meadows in New York.

The 15-time Grand Slam quad singles champion also achieved an unprecedented calendar-year Grand Slam in quad doubles in 2019, winning the four major tournaments with Heath Davidson (Australian Open), David Wagner (French Open) and Andy Lapthorne (Wimbledon and US Open). In total, as of 12 September 2021, Alcott had won eight quad doubles titles in addition to his 15 quad singles titles, plus three Paralympic gold medals (quad singles and quad doubles at Rio 2016 and quad singles at Tokyo 2021).

Steffi Graf (1988) and Diede de Groot (2021) are the two players who completed a “Golden Slam” before Alcott – Dutchwoman de Groot just hours before Alcott matched her single-year dominance at the 2021 US Open. De Groot was, therefore, the first-ever wheelchair tennis player to achieve a “Golden Slam”.
