The youngest woman to ascend K2 (8,611 m; 28,251 ft) is Adriana Brownlee (UK, b. 8 January 2001), who reached the top of the world's second-highest mountain at 6:30 a.m. on 29 July 2022 at the age of 21 years 202 days.

Brownlee's ascent of K2 was made with Gelje Sherpa and was her 10th conquest of a peak above 8,000 m (26,246 ft). The expedition formed part of Brownlee's long-term goal to become the youngest mountaineer – male or female – to summit all 14 of the 8,000ers; her remaining peaks are Gasherbrum I (8,080 m; 26,509 ft) and II (8,034 m; 26,358 ft), Cho Oyu (8,188 m; 26,863 ft) and Shishapangma (8,027 m; 26,335 ft).

The 21-year-old mountaineer climbed from K2 base camp to camp four without the use of supplementary oxygen but a dramatic change in the weather forced the adoption of bottled oxygen for the last leg of the climb.
