Deutsches Wörterbuch, started by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm (best known for their collection of fairy tales) in 1854, was completed in 1971 and consists of 34,519 pages and 33 volumes. The title translates as German Dictionary. It is available as a special order at Amazon.com for $1,695 (£1,200)!
